Math
Our next unit will be focusing on multiplication and division of whole numbers and decimals. Students have taken a pre-test to determine what they already know on this topic, which will help the teachers plan instruction for this unit.
Language Arts
We continue to have weekly writing assignments. The students were really enthusiastic about our fiction assignment this week. We will be having a fun "persuasive" essay topic next week! Students will receive their detailed assignment on Monday, as usual.
Social Studies
We have begun our unit on Ancient Egypt. Part of this unit is traditionally an at-home individual project to create an artifact representing some aspect of Ancient Egyptian history or culture. The students then give an oral presentation to the class regarding their topic. Students tend to be very excited about this project, and I look forward to seeing all the original creations every year! The projects and the unit test will be due after break. The test is scheduled for January 12, and the projects are due January 13. Students learned about the project today and will receive rubrics and a written description of the project assignment on Monday.
Science
The chemistry "mini-unit" has begun. This will be a short unit with a quiz before winter break.
